Community Guidelines & Safety

Last updated: July 3, 2026  •  Operated by Saturday Night Showdown

Saturday Night Showdown ("SNS") includes chat features — league chat, group chats, and direct messages. These guidelines apply to everything you send in chat and any content you post. They exist so the community stays fun, competitive, and safe. They work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; breaking these rules is a violation of the Terms.

See something? Report it. Tap the ⚑ Report control on any message — in a direct message, a group, or your league chat — choose a reason, and (optionally) add context. Every report goes to a real person on our team for review. You can also email us any time at [email protected].

1. Be decent to other people

SNS is a game. Trash talk about your team is part of the fun — targeting a person is not. Treat other users the way you'd want your league to treat you.

2. What is not allowed

Do not send, post, or share content that is:

  • Harassment or bullying — targeted insults, stalking, pile-ons, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • Threats or violence — threatening, encouraging, or glorifying violence or harm against anyone.
  • Hate speech — attacks or slurs based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Sexual content — pornographic or sexually explicit material, or unwanted sexual advances.
  • Content that sexualizes or endangers minors — strictly prohibited (see Section 6).
  • Self-harm or suicide content — content that encourages or instructs self-harm. If you or someone else is in crisis, please contact a local emergency line — in the U.S. you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
  • Spam — flooding, repetitive messages, unsolicited advertising, or mass unsolicited invites.
  • Scams or fraud — phishing, deceptive schemes, or attempts to trick users out of money, accounts, or information.
  • Impersonation — pretending to be another person, SNS staff, or an organization you're not.
  • Private information ("doxxing") — sharing someone's personal or identifying information without their consent.
  • Illegal activity — anything unlawful under applicable law, or promoting it.
  • Cheating & abuse of the platform — using chat to coordinate cheating, exploit bugs, or evade moderation (including ban evasion).

3. How to report abuse

Reporting takes a few seconds and is confidential from the person you're reporting:

  • In a direct message or group chat: open the ⋯ actions on a message and choose Report, or use the conversation menu to report or block the user.
  • In league chat: tap the ⚑ Report icon on the offending message.
  • By email: write to [email protected] with details.

Pick the reason that best fits and add a note if it helps. Reports for the most serious categories (threats, self-harm, and content involving minors) are escalated immediately. Please don't file false or retaliatory reports — misusing the report tool is itself a violation.

4. Blocking

In direct messages and group chats you can block a user from the conversation menu. Blocking stops them from messaging you. Blocking is separate from reporting — if someone breaks these rules, please report them too so our team can act.

5. What we do about violations

Our Trust & Safety team reviews reports and may take action at our discretion, including:

  • Removing or hiding the offending message.
  • Issuing a warning.
  • Temporarily muting or restricting an account.
  • Suspending or permanently banning an account across the platform.

We keep an internal record of moderation actions. We may also proactively screen messages for the most severe content and remove it automatically. We reserve the right — but do not assume the obligation — to monitor content, and we may act on violations we discover ourselves as well as ones that are reported.

6. Minors and child-safety (zero tolerance)

SNS is an 18+ service and is not directed to anyone under 18. We have zero tolerance for any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor, including child sexual abuse material ("CSAM"). We remove such content, terminate the accounts involved, and — as required by U.S. law (18 U.S.C. §2258A) — report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate with law enforcement. If you encounter this kind of content, report it immediately or email [email protected].

7. Your messages and your data

Messages you send are stored so conversations and league history work. You can delete your own messages, and deleted messages are purged on a rolling schedule. For details on how long we keep chat data and your rights over it, see the Privacy Policy (Data Retention).

8. Questions or appeals

If you believe we made a mistake, or you have a question about a moderation decision, contact [email protected]. We'll take a look.
